My dad and I finished putting together my new computer and we put my old hard drive into the D:\ drive so we could transfer my work files, but apparently they were encrypted and now we can't access them, any idea what we can do or what might have caused this? When we try to move them it says that we just don't have permission to use this file etc.

You will need to set the permission for your user account in order to access the files.

Right click on a folder and click on the security tab

That happened to me before, you have to set the permissions, but It didn't work for me last time...
I recommend to never use permissions... It's much harder and annoying to get your Data back...

There's no securities tab when I go to the properties of a folder on the D:\ drive.
