Well, if you havn't been under a rock for the last while your've probably heard of the sandisk U3. If not it is a USB flash drive that emmulates a CD drive with Ini and INF files on it. Basicaly it will auto run when stuck in a pc.

Problem is the CD drive it auto runs off is read only (as expected).

I've been going through some of the files on it and I cant figure out how to sub in my... "Program" instead of the sandisk cruser start menu. Has any one heard of any methods from either changing the INF, replacing the EXE, or turning off the read only portion of it?
Here the INF currently in use for the start menu

Code:
[AutoRun]
open=LaunchU3.exe -a
icon=LaunchU3.exe,0
action=Run U3 Launchpad

[Definitions]
Launchpad=LaunchPad.exe
Vtype=2

[CopyFiles]
FileNumber=1
File1=LaunchPad.zip

[Update]

Your explanation of what U3 does is very understanding... Rolling Eyes

U3 is emulation based software build into the flash drive to act like a mini-OS. When a U3 drive is inserted its own start menu will appear letting you run the programs you have on the flash drive regardless of what the host has.

U3 also comes with a security manager which lets you put a password just in case someone stoles your flash drive. The password manager is located in the U3's options menu.

BTW, there are alternatives to U3 if you want to do some forensic exploring.

I would use an alternative.

I wasn't talking about putting a file in the start menu. I was talking about replacing the start menu auto run with my own .exe .

An Alternative I use on my Flash Drive is http://portableapps.com/.
You can add any .exe file into the Portable App's folder, then refresh the menu and You've got it on your menu...

W00T! It works perfectly. I used those files and just swapped out the Inf file with my own and changed a few files.
