Do they take .avi files?

Is there a good converter?

you can play videos in your iPod Nano in .m4v, .mp4, and .mov file formats.

total video converter isn't free BUT once the 30 day trial is up it asks you to enter a serial or "keep using total video converter" and it will strangely let you keep converting without a serial o_o
