I believe it is a facebook bug.
My sister has similar problem, she can see the start page but when she tries to login the browser shows "unknown page".
But it could also be a facebook-only virus, something which "captures" the browser communication and ....
I have a suggestion for you:
if you dont want to reinstall your os, then install vmware and install a clean windows in it and try it again.
