if there is a new section, there is a vote for a new mod.
you can write an e-mail to DB begging to be a mod (only 1 person has ever gotten a position as mod from doing it and it was 3 pages)
an old mod resigns and DB needs a knew one
DB chooses one

Simple: Don't spam, be helpful, report as much as you can without being someone who reports even the tinyiest out of line stuff, and don't appear to be power-hungry. When DB + The mods decide who's next, we basicly instantly rule out people who appear power hungry.

Even if you don't get picked for modship, your reports and helpful replies still help the community.

I think it depends on how helpful you are in a certain section. For example, i think Belie was chosen mod of maple story because he/she supplies us with helpful shit involving maple story.

I think DB also chooses mods because you cant just say: "PICK ME!"
Also, there are openings where you can submit your info.

Mods request active people in that section at their 'round table' and from there Dark Byte acknowledges that they've become a mod.
