Well i will be getting money soon. Is there a decent card that i'd be able to buy for around 135$? i'd most likely use it for gaming. Does me using windows vista affect what i should get? |

No. Your power supply and motherboard will, however.
For $135, you could probably get that Asus HD4870 512MB. Or a GTS 250, although the HD4870 for $135 after rebates would probably be the better. _________________

The GTS 250 is nothing more than a rebadged 9800GTX+ with slight faster clock speed and a new bios name change. Looks like Nvidia idea to screw the consumer with a "new" card and jacked up price has been compromised.

It's a slight bit faster, and half an inch shorter with the redesigned PCB. The MSRP is probably the biggest difference, to put it on even ground compared to the HD 4850. It's a good bit faster than the HD 4850 in most scenarios and doesn't cost much more. But NVIDIA has been rebranding a lot of their G92 cards.
Newegg cut the deal with the Asus HD 4870 512MB for $135. _________________

8800GT/GTS/GTX/ULTRA = 9800GT/GTX/GTX+ = GTS 250
All of those are overall same card
8800GT/9800GT/GTX 250 are all the same shit, no preformance boost. |

Just because they use the same architecture doesn't mean they all have the exact same performance. Even by viewing the specs, the GTS 250 is obviously much superior to the 8800GT (clock speeds, number of USPs). Beyond that, you can see the new 55nm fab, pixel and texture fill rates, and memory bandwidth, and GFLOPs of processing power.
8800GTX/Ultra/older GTS are not based on the G92 architecture, rather they are G80 90nm cards. _________________

It does not matter if it's faster or not, the focus of this is Nvidia lied to the consumer that their GTS 250 is a "new" card while in reality its using a old G92 core with a few tweaks here or there just to be faster than the 9800GTX+.
If the GTS 250 is indeed a new card then they would have use the G200 core (found on the GTX 260 and above) instead. |

IF you want to compare graphic cards, then go to this site :
- "gpureview"
Also, check this site for pricing :
- "zipzoomfly" , formerly known as "GoogleGear"
"ZipZoomFly" has an aggressive and attractive pricing policy, along with free-shipping on many items. |
