I highly doubt you can afford something like that. Don't waste our time.
I'm sure if you know what processor you want, and the type of RAM you want, you can do it yourself.

Wow, this is no troll. If I was going to troll, I would've said "I just won the lottery and now I want a $8k computer." But I didn't. I have 8k left in my 401k since I quit my job before the stocks got worse and I would lose most of my 401k. (I used to work at Timken, and I'm currently working at Bucyrus Blades). |
I'm sure you can pick out pc parts yourself, if you're so smart.

How about someone just gives him a quick build then instead of arguing? He's probably trolling, so after you give him the build...if he doesn't provide pfoof of purchase I'll ban him.

I wouldn't get that Seagate Barracuda 1.5TB, with all the faulty firmware shit they've been having. The rest looks alright. The Cooler Master V8 makes me happy because it looks like a vacuum cleaner.

May I ask whatthe heck he would use 12gb ram to?
He wont probebly use over 3gb ram.
But getting 6gb doen't do so much.
But for the 200$ extra he could get GTX295 instead.
also he should download an OS instead, legally of course!

Given that the OP is probably a troll, I'll bite.
Mobo: EVGA 132-BL-E758-A1 ($300) or GIGABYTE GA-EX58-UD4P ($270).
Both are pretty similar, look at the specs/reviews and you can choose which one is superior.
CPU: i7 920 ($289)
GPU: EVGA GTX 295 ($510) or Sapphire HD4870x2 ($405)
The GTX 295 beats the HD4870x2 most of the time but is $100 more. Either way, you'll be raping every game you come across.
PSU: Corsair 750W ($120) or PCP&C 750W ($120)
Either way you can't go wrong.
RAM: G.Skill 3x2GB 1600MHz ($105)
Can't seem to find anything with better CAS latency for less than $250. Remember that you can run the RAM at it's full speed (1600MHz as opposed to 1066MHz it's set to by default iirc) by changing a setting found in your BIOS, contrary to what Intel said when they initially released the i7. Can't see any legitimate need for more than 6GB of RAM.
HDD: 300GB WD Velociraptor ($230) and/or 1TB WD HDD ($105)
Get the 300GB Velociraptor if you want raw speed or the 1TB HDD if you want raw storage capacity. If you don't mind spending the money, you could use the Velociraptor for your OS and games and such and the 1TB for general storage (music, movies, pron, etc).
HSF: Noctua NH-U12P ($77) or Xigmatek DK-S1283V ($40)
The Noctua NH-U12P is somewhat more powerful but significantly more expensive than the Xiggy DK-S1283V. Get the Noctua NH-U12P if you're concerned about cooling, however the DK-S1283V is significantly better price/performance wise.
Thermal paste: Arctic Silver 5 ($7) or OCZ Freeze ($6)
The AS5 is usually like 1 degree celcius cooler than the OCZ Freeze, but can cause a short if you apply too much or are careless with it and takes 200+ hours to cure while the OCZ Freeze is non-conductive and requires no cure time.
Case: Antec 900 ($110) or CoolerMaster RC-690 ($90)
Either case is very well built and have amazing air flow, which one you want is completely up to preference. If you want, there's the optional side panel w/ window ($25) for the RC-690, why it's not included in a combo is beyond me.
Optical drive: Lite-On DVD burner ($23)
Honestly, whatever's the cheapest at the time is best. Which happens to be this at the moment.
Assuming you choose the most expensive option for each part listed, this totals out to $1771, leaving you $229 for any peripherals you might want (monitor, keyboard, mouse, speakers, etc).
Remember to look for combos. With, for example, the CM RC-690 there's this, which is not only a better PSU either of the ones listed separately but is actually $10 cheaper.
