My pc is not reading my DVD+R blank disc {HELP!}

I just got some DVD+R discs to make some dvds, and my pc will not read it, it keeps saying "No disc in Drive E"

Info:
Computer type: Dell Dimension 2400
Drive Type: Samsung, Compact Disc Rewritable.
OP: Windows XP

If you have a CD burner, why would it burn DVDs?

Usually about $20 for an internal standard-size DVD burner. If you need a slimline version or whatever for a laptop/pc that's trying too hard to look futuristic, usually about $40.
