Hey,
I currently have a PC in my living room and a 40" Sony HD TV aswell....
What I would like to do is make that PC a Home Media Centre PC.
I would like to record from Digital TV + from a 2nd Dish Decoder thingo....
Questions
1. What Hardware do i need? TV tuner +????
2.What software do I need which can also record automatically at programable times.
3. Can I also use the same PC to play games and stuff while its being used by the TV? _________________

From what I've learned, you need a cable card if you want to record premium channels like HBO, Cinemax and so on, but to get it you must get yourself a OEM based system as they cannot sell cable card as a stand alone product.
If you manage to get one, according to Maximum PC it was a bitch to setup where in the end they gave up (after several attempts even their cable company was at it, and no luck).
As for TV tuners check out Hauppage they work with Media Centers. |
