Got a new floppy drive and cable, and I'm experiencing a popping sound before an audio file plays for something. (Only the initial pop, so it doesn't interfere much with music, games, but it gets a little annoying.)
Anybody know if it's the FDD/cable itself?

It's not easy to pin point for what is causing your speakers to pop when you changed two things at once.

Try one piece at a time to see if it's actually the cable or the drive that's causing it.

How is he supposed to check the cable?
Plug one into the motherboard and one into the air?
It's most likely the drive.

I currently have Logitech X-530 and when I added my floppy drive it made weird noises.
I got rid of it and the noises stopped.
Why do you need a Floppy dick drive anyway?
Its a worthless old system....

I can check if I have an older ribbon (as opposed to the new round cable) to try it later. FDD is the Samsung on Newegg.
The floppy drive is for a more authentic vintage-computer feel when tracking (Fasttracker 2 clones just don't cut it in my book). You may laugh. ^^

Is your brain missing or something?
Think logically and maybe you will know the answer.

As for floppy drives, most corporate still uses them, some even have tape drives for backup not like those luxury devices we have at home like usb hdds or DVD burners.

Btw, I still use a floppy drive myself and it's still useful like updating bios, creating diagnostic disk, installing RAID drivers during OS setups.

The floppy is indeed old, but it's still got life in it.
And if it's too extinct then explain why new boards of today still carries a floppy drive controller?

Cause people still use them!
