My computer that I have just reformatted after a virus wont boot after the first screen where it says: Ultra Durable 3, f12 to bios w/e. It will just turn black and thats it.
I tried booting without my hdds plugged in but no luck.
Sometimes it will just get all fuzzy with random colors, and then turn black.
I tried booting with another graphics card, but same things happen.
I then RMA'ed the motherboard, used with the new one, and the same things happen again. So I'm thinking its either my CPU or my ram that's effing things up.
How can I test if its either one of them: the cpu or my ram thats causing the problems?
Mother Board: Gigabyte: GA-ep45-ud3r
CPU: q6000
ram: g skill 8500 2gb x2
GPU: 260 gtx
hdd: black caviar western digital 500gb.

He already took out the hdd and it's still doing the same thing (weird colors and then black screen).
To the OP
Try 1 stick of ram at a time
Make sure your psu is able to handle that card!
Update your mobo's bios.
To confirm if your cpu or ram is not good you will need to run it on another system.

I actually just tried the ram on a different pc and it was working
@forgotten: my pc has booted without having the hdd plugged in before...
did u mean booting into the os?
PS: My computer has worked for two weeks, until I reformatted. my 650w corsair is working..
so my cpu should be the problem?
I have been messing around with the oc settings..
Should I put my pent4 and test it on my mobo?

If you were OCing, see if raising the vCore helps. You probably set it too low and it isn't getting enough juice - making it unstable.

OP, are you able to get to BIOS screen? If so, reset everything in there to default. If not, clear the CMOS of your mobo and try from there.

Most modern boards have a button you can press. Or disconnecting your PSU for a couple of minutes would reset it. Otherwise you have to set the jumper.
Check your motherboard's documentation.

If there is not a button, just disconnecting the PSU won't work; you have to take out the button battery. Just know that all reset methods usually reset your date & time, too.

At most it's just 15 seconds, but wait 1 minute just in case.
You don't need to wait 15-20 minutes.

Why go through removing the battery when you can simply place a jumper?
Delivered (from user manual of motherboard):
Simple as that.

because the jumper method sometimes does not fully reset the bios.

However, if it were a voltage issue during overclocking, clearing the CMOS would resolve it.
