Look for XtoDVD. Also, note that lots of DVD players can't play burned DVD-RWs.

nero vision's also an option. re-writable is plain stupid, especially when you can pick up a pack of 50 for $15 in Australia...

I fail to see how it is stupid... If you do not get a rewritable and you mess up your first burn... The DVD is done... and not everyone can afford to waste my money.

Anyone... I used xtodvd and LOVED it...

you could always test the image on your computer before you burn it, and not waste a disc. what i meant was that (at least for me) not many dvd players like re-writable disc. stupid wasn't the word i was looking for, but it's close enough.

Isn't

Recordable = 1x use
Re-writable = unlimited use (not really, max is like 1000 erases before it goes bad).

that's the gist of it, yeah, but not all dvd players like RW.

Stand alone DVD player (the one under/above your TV set) mostly supports DVD-R. They are not friendly with RW or them "plus" DVDs.

I tried DVD-RWs on 4 DVD players and have had no problems. Most of the DVD players are at least 3 years old.

I use ConvertXtoDVD, it is really simple to use and it is pretty quick.

use convertXtoDVD3, since you're in the US make sure you set it to NTSC.
Remember, it's usually only expensive DVD players that don't play pirated discs.
