It has been successfully jailbroken by the dev team.
It won't be publicly available until they fix some more things.
The main problem being that every time it's turned back on the iPod will revert to non jailbroken settings.
It's all explained in these videos.

| Yeah, saw that on my Hack-a-day RSS. Another thing is that it's not exactly "non-technical" yet. They were just demo-ing it. |

True, but it's still great that they've started working on it and are making quick progress.
Should we keep this as the official jailbreak thread? I'll edit first post when it comes out. |

They're not much different really.
They have a speaker, volume controls and are a little thinner.
Look a little nicer imo but I wouldn't really care.
You should jailbreak yours (1st gen jailbreak was released ages ago). |

I know, once I get it(I ordered it online cuz no store is selling it anymore), I will. Also, there are brilliant applications like Shazam that work only on the 2nd gen. Why not get more for less.

just because it has been cracked doesnt mean it will be released for quite some time, specifically as the dev team is all about nice easy jailbreaks, they will get it all wrapped up before they release anything
it is positive though, even though ive got a 1st gen
wow, that shazam looks impressive, though you can find that stuff on the interenet easily
BTW this is supposed to be in the Console Hacking Section
