No.
As long as you don't format the partition with your music, you are fine.

It shouldn't if you chose upgrade.
If you chose custom [for dual booting] then just pick a partition that you already have setup for it and don't format your currently used partition.

Does Windows 7 use the same RAM etc. as XP? I might upgrade.
On the other hand, apparently virtual drives don't work on 7, so it's meaningless to me Sad

ok thanks. But int eh install instructions they constantly say to make a backup or not to use your central computer [this is the computer my entire family uses] Would it be a good idea to install it, is it stable?

I don't really know, but it might not run most of the applications. Because Windows 7 uses a completely different kernel from other windows's, and not all applications support that kernel.

did anyone else notice "The Windows 7 Beta will stop working on August 1, 2009. To continue using your PC, please be prepared to reinstall a prior version of Windows or a subsequent release of Windows 7 before the expiration date. We recommend doing a custom (clean) installation." ?

Same Vista kernel, only leaner.

They expect you to pay and upgrade really, but you'll have to downgrade reformat if you don't.

If you participate in the Beta, you will get free copies of Windows 7 mailed to you when the Beta ends.

As long as you sign up correctly.

They did it with Vista, too.

SEXY.
So wait, I could buy a really cheap amazing gaming computer, and instead of buying the OS that they don't include and hope to make money from, I could just put Windows 7 Beta on it and get a free upgrade when it comes out?
Schweet.
