carbon monoxide builds up.
this is also a common problem for people who use electric generators when power is out and they leave the generator indoor.
CO builds up, you cant detect it, you die.

your engine produces CO (carbon monoxide)
Carbon Monoxide is a dangerous gas.
it does what s3nsa stated.
end result of too much carbon monoxide = you die.

| You don't die if you leave the engine on. The whole point of the exhaust pipes if to expel the carbon monoxide from the engine. It will only build up if you use the air conditioning/furnace in your car without opening the window or using the car.

Yeah. It doesn't work when you're outside because nothing traps the CO in.
Unless you turn on the furnace/AC without opening the window. Then you'll die from CO poisoning.
