First you not even suppose to have the Starter edition although it's all in the single Vista disc.

it's only 32bit
Cannot network (If I remember correctly)
Max. windows allowed open at the same time is 3.

It's only for developing countries.

But if you want to get it out, you'll have to dig into the registry to remove it.

in "HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT"?
in "HKEY_CURRENT_USER"?

Vista Starter Edition isn't meant to be a full-on operating system for people in countries that we probably live in. If you're going to install Vista, I would recommend a different version.
I dug up a few ideas on removing the overlay, but they seemed quite complicated, and didn't involve either steps or confirmation that they worked.

My bad it's actually you cannot open up more than 3 applications at the same time, not windows.

Anyway after looking around the net, there is not way to remove the logo, but there is a work around for it.

Download the attach file the link provided below
file download link

Extract and run it.

Note: The program will have to be executed every time windows is restarted. You'll may probably have to modify your registry or windows to make that program autorun everytime windows starts.

Look around the net for more info on how to do that.
