ninja -> use technique to quicky execute your opponent

pirate -> rage straight against him to forcefully eliminate your opponent.

ninja -> if done correct, no damage done on yourself seeing as your opponent have no time to strike back, large possibility of succeeding how large your opponent even is

pirate -> your opopnent sees you, also gives him time to protect himself

ninja -> well, duh

Talking of win level, not battle strategies. Pirates weren't assasins, so they had no need to charge. Most of the time they attacked simple trading ships that weren't well prepared.
