...the rules on downloading form youtube? is it like completely illegal? or is it legal?
plus is it possible for the feds to tell the difference of where i got the songs once i burn them to a disk?
so could I lie and say i got it all form random cd's?

first off
"why?" = one word post spam
second my friend downloaded a bunch of songs and has about 10 cd's with songs taken from youtube so he's wondering on what might happen to him and he didn't feel like making and account on here just to ask so... Answer my question plz?

lol karakawe's right. why would you want to pirate music from youtube? it's shit quality. get a good site or use torrents/usenet. i download songs, movies, games, software, whatever else and i don't care. if we weren't meant to pirate things, there wouldn't be 100gb+ internet plans...

Because youtube has some songs that you absolutely cannot find on any torrent sites. (gang music, underground stuff, etc)

Most of the time, in the way you are approaching the subject, downloading songs off YouTube is illegal.
Will you get caught? It's unlikely, the RIAA needs a ton of evidence to catch and sue you. But when they do, they'll sue a lot.
YouTube usually uses low quality, 96kbps audio. In other words, YouTube's quality is far worse than what you'd get with a nice, 192kbps song from a CD.

"Unlikely" is an understatement. You would be downloading the SAME .flv video that you were viewing on the site, only you're putting it to your files, instead of using the in-YouTube video player. I don't even understand why the rule is in place, it would actually save YouTube bandwidth, no?
