|
I've bought my old PC when I was about 8 and it's been about 7 - 8 years of owning it. My processor doesn't seem to be worn out neither my 30GB hard disks which both are 7 - 8 years old. Not sure but when does this stuff usually die? I'm waiting and waiting and can't seem to settle on a year processor doesn't go above 39C and yeah it's at 3.00GHz. How many more years will this P4 die?

All processors are individual in their life span. I don't think anyone's to say.

| How much would I expect? Eh, not really sure. I have a laptop from around then. The beast-like Inspiron 9100, with all the PC components? Wouldn't expect it to last so long with such high specs (for a laptop at the time), but it's still running strong, if a little warm.

My dad's Pentium 2 mobile-based CPU is still running hard. And it's still pretty fast (it makes me feel like my computer is slow as crap), even running XP.
Like slovach stated, most people with the money will probably move onto a new computer, or upgrade within a few years. Your CPU should last far longer than that though.
