Hi, I recently installed ESET Smart Security anti-virus and as soon as I did, all these files were quarantined for being infected with the "Jeefo.A" virus.
So I googled it, and found out that it can infect almost all .exe files on your computer.
I haven't formatted my computer ever (3 years) so I want to know a way to COMPLETELY, for lack of a better word, destroy everything to leave no trace of the bug on my computer. (Please don't tell me to smash my computer...)
Is there a special technique to do this?

Back up what you need (you'll have to scan later), pop in an XP install disk and boot from it --make SURE you have all the drivers you need from your manufacturer's web site, and follow directions to delete and format the partitions on your hard drive.
Formatting is formatting.

Just format the hard drive.
If you need a simple guide:
| Code: | 1) Buy or obtain a copy of Windows XP.
1a) If you downloaded an image of WindowsXp, burn it to a CD using a program like Nero, Alcohol120%, PowerISO and others. I use PowerISO.
2)Pop in your disk and restart your computer. It should ask you to press any button to boot into the CD. If it doesn't....
2a) Not giving you the option to boot from CD: Enter your BIOS setup and configure the boot order. I can't tell you where it is specifically because BIOS' are different. Make sure your optical drive it before your Hard Disk Drive.
3)Follow the onscreen instructions. Eventually you will come to a part where you choose which partition to install windows to. Delete the previous partition. You should be left with a single RAW partition. Select it and format using NTFS.

Depends what you use, really.
To start:
Browser and WinRAR/7-zip
Adobe Reader
Adobe Flash
Alcohol 120% or equivalent, whatever you use if you do at all
DAMN NFO Viewer - not NEEDED, but not time-consuming to get
K-Lite or VLC Player, whichever you use
Microsoft Office or OpenOffice, same
Any download managers
AV/IS programs, if you use them
.NET frameworks (for XP users)
Live Messenger/AIM/QQ, etc
Any application or control center for hardware (ie CCC)
Visual Studio/MSDN Library (or what you use if you program)
VirtualDub
OllyDBG
(last two not so much as installations, but downloads)
Just to list a couple off the top of my head. All depends on how you use the computer.

Those arent really essential you cna do those after
Go download your drivers for your motherboard, especially the LAN driver
other such as video, audio etc
