Okay, I decided that I want to downgrade my new computer to XP, I don't know which drivers I need, although I have a CD with the drivers for this computer, but they're for Vista. Can someone tell me which drivers I will need and how to get them? Would I just go to the dell site and type in my model number and they'll give me the drivers?

I've gotten to this site: http://support.dell.com/support/downloads/driverslist.aspx?os=WW1&osl=EN&catid=-1&impid=-1&servicetag=&SystemID=INSP_DSKTP_D531S&hidos=WLH&hidlang=en&TabIndex=

But I don't know what to download.

Nah. I don't really want to talk to them, I just want to know which drivers I'll need so I won't really have to hassle when installing XP.

you need drivers for pretty much everything, but focus on your sound, graphics and lan drivers to get you started. once you've got xp, you could always download the missing drivers from that site, device manager will show up with some unknown devices.

Could you list the specific hardware that you have? If you don't know you can use the tool found at this link. link It's necessary information to determine drivers. Save and attach the html file if you need to. Or just list hardware information. (Such as sound card, video card, motherboard, etc.)

You could always slipstream ALL the drivers you might need from driverpacks.net with the BASE available on the website and an ISO of your copy of XP.

Dell Inspiron 531 Windows XP Driver Pack
I recently purchased 20 new Dell Inspiron 531 computers for the school district with the intent of installing Windows XP on them (I'm not yet a fan of Vista). Interestingly enough I've heard that Dell is only offering Vista drivers for these machines at the request (or demand?) of Microsoft. I was more than a little annoyed when I discovered this information, but I've managed to track down every driver needed (that is if your Inspiron includes an nVidia GeForce GPU). I've packaged it all into a 153MB zip file, just unpack it to a USB flash drive and use that to go from workstation to workstation. Works like a charm and has saved me a lot of hours. Viva la XP!

INSPIRON_531_XP_DRIVER_PACK.zip (153MB)
INSPIRON_531_XP_DRIVER_PACK.7z (138MB) Help save bandwidth by using this 7zip archive!

Best method is install windows XP and then get a program called Everest (free) and it gives you information on all your hardware such as make and model number and just find out what drivers your missing in device manager and get the name and model of your parts and get the drivers from the manufactors website.
