Notice that it says Windows XP... Thats what you want is it not?
Ubuntu doesn't really sound right for you if you need VmWare...
Server will do you fine for this.

What do you have against him using Workstation for this? And what's wrong with VMWare on Ubuntu, it's an operating system, same as Windows.

Workstation is as far as I know workstation only; whereas server is cross platform. Get VmWare working smoothly on Ubuntu and I'll give you 20 bucks.
Ubuntu same as Windows? Right...

What the fuck are you talking about? There's a Linux version of VMWare Workstation, and is able to be installed smoothly on Ubuntu, I've done it in the past when I used to dual-boot.
Give me an hour or two, I'll install Ubuntu?

| I know that. He's trying to install the WINDOWS version of it, not the Linux one. And I bet he doesn't want to shell out for another copy of VMWare.

| I'm assuming he knows that he has to install from the Linux version, since I told him that in a previous thread. VMWare Player is free to use for both Windows and Linux, although we can't assume he plans to necessarily buy Workstation

In his other thread he stated that we was trying to use WINE to do it, so I don't think he knows that.
To recap ; Use virtual box or buy VMWare for Linux or use VmWare Player.

| Double click it and the package manager should install it and all required files.

| Open Terminal (Applications > Accessories) and use the cd command to go to the correct directory. When you're in the folder with the bundle, type "sudo sh filename.bundle". 6.5 incorporates a GUI, so installation is easier than it was before.

sudo sh VMware-Workstation-6.5.1-126130.i386.bundle
sh: Can't open VMware-Workstation-6.5.1-126130.i386.bundle
