Well
My dad has a Western Digital MyBook 320 gb but it is acting really weird lately
Transferring something from it takes ages, 1gb takes like 2 hours
Also
When he connects his HDD to its pc, booting up takes like 2 hours......
Does someone know if it is his HDD or the PC he is using
Cuz its a really old pc
single core amd processor 2ghz
1gb ram

Well, it seems that many people have had these problems (booting up)... Not just with that external hdd... but almost all!
Also, the decrease in speed could be caused by multiple things:
* A lot of shit going on, on your computer
* You are using a slow means of transfer ( USB )... As i recall, that external hard drive has a USB ( not USB2/eSata which are fast ) transfer thing...
My suggestion, is get an external hdd that supports usb2 and/or eSata... esata is SUPER FUCKING FAST! Seriously, it is as fast as plugging your hard drive directly onto your mobo.

Its a really old computer so it doesnt have an e-sata port
my dad wants to use it for a backup for family pictures, clips and stuff he doesnt want to lose and then store the HDD at my grand dad's place
But the problem is that putting stuff on it goes fucking slow

The problem is that your old computer probably has a USB 1.0 or 1.1 port. The max bandwidth on USB 1.1 is 12Mb/sec or 1.5MB/sec as opposed to USB 2.0's 480Mb/s.
You're out of luck. Your only choice is to go with the slow speed and do it overnight or something.

Well i dont think the pc is that old
Its from 2003-4 or something
Also
It used to work fine.
