Yes it is probebly ALOT better then the old one.
But for me AMD was only good when they where singelcore, now intel pwn their asses.

Tho get ur hopes up for the new one here.
If its good, that means intel will be cheaper, and that will start a fight which leads whatever to our win (lower prices).

Big part of the performance improvement comes from the 3 channel DDR3 memory and bus. So for memory intensive apps you can get much bigger performances (and this is one of the main the reason why Core i7 will beat the old quads by almost a factor of two in the same Mhz range).

All motherboards will support upto 24G of mem - for when that matters - and 12 will be mainstream (compared to 8 max now).
