Multi-GPUs in laptops are uneconomical. They get insanely hot and are very heavy. Battery life is awfully low too. They're also overpriced, and it's especially evident in the enthusiast market.

Scaling isn't very good unless you're running very high resolutions with AA and AF, and with dual 3870s, it's unlikely you'll be able to max out Crysis at your laptop's native resolution, especially if you upgrade to the 1920x1200 pixel monitor. Dual 9800GTs would be better if you're going to be running your games with AA and AF, ATI didn't get AA and AF right until the 4xx0 series.

I wouldn't get anything more than a mainstream (~8600GT) graphics card in a laptop. If you really need more power than that, stick to a desktop.

I agree. Multi-card solutions are questionable on desktops, and just plain stupid in laptops.

Heat isn't an issue. As long as it doesn't damage the hardware, I can deal with a hot laptop. Get the Asus G50-Vt at Best Buy. It has a 9800M GS, which is very good for gaming. Price is only $1250.

You can do the better, including a decent monitor, for 2/3-1/2 the price with a desktop computer.
