After yesterday's thread, I decided to get a Alienware laptop, now is the GPU good enough on its own? Because I heard you can put two and which GPU does it?

laptops get very hot, so if u dont really need a one, i recommend a full sized computer instead.
GPU options r single 3870 or crossfire |

Would two ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870 equal 4750 or better? _________________

Ok it comes down to this question which would be a better choice dual 512MB NVIDIA GeForce 9800M GT or dual ATI Mobility Radeon™ HD 3870? _________________

Multi-GPUs in laptops are uneconomical. They get insanely hot and are very heavy. Battery life is awfully low too. They're also overpriced, and it's especially evident in the enthusiast market.
Scaling isn't very good unless you're running very high resolutions with AA and AF, and with dual 3870s, it's unlikely you'll be able to max out Crysis at your laptop's native resolution, especially if you upgrade to the 1920x1200 pixel monitor. Dual 9800GTs would be better if you're going to be running your games with AA and AF, ATI didn't get AA and AF right until the 4xx0 series.
I wouldn't get anything more than a mainstream (~8600GT) graphics card in a laptop. If you really need more power than that, stick to a desktop. |
