How do I stop people from stealing my signal and how do I check
if people are stealing from it?
(I have a modem.)

Wireless? Enable WEP / WPA encryption, as for checking to see if someones stealing it...dunno.

To enable encryption, normally just change your modem settings.

Go to http://192.168.0.1 (Not sure if it's different for others, if it is: start -> run -> cmd -> ipconfig -> use the IP address listed under Default Gateway) and login. default is admin, admin for most, mines admin, motorolla (login, password)

if you got a netgear go to 192.168.1.1 also did you put a protection firewall with pass encryption on your router? Your router should of asked you to do so when you first connected to it also when you get into your routers settings it shows you who is connected to you.

Some routers (like mine) allow you to configure mac address and then they allow connection only from this mac adress. So I enter them for all my devices that I want to connect, and no other device can connect.
