I was trying to buy some DDR memory but it is much more than DDR2. Why is that!?

Probably because DDR2 is the main standard, and not a lot of DDR memory if being manufactured anymore.

Cause DDR is older, older = expensiver. (seeing as DDR is hardly used, companies stop producing it)

Just like you're older AGP graphics cards. Anything like that comes at a premium as Safko stated as its not exactly 'rolling' off the production lines anymore. The same will happen to DDR3 memory eventually once it becomes more mainstream.
