Out of nowhere my sound driver stopped working properly and whenever i tried to run volume control it gave me this error:

I tried removing the driver and restarting computer to see if it will automatically be added, also that msgbox tells me to go to that folder but I don't have control panel in classic mode D: i also tried googles but couldn't find anything to help me out.. i even tried this
Quote:
Go to Start --> Run, and type in services.msc.
A window will pop up with a list of services. Scroll down to Windows Audio. Right-click
and click on Properties.
Make sure that "Startup type" is set to automatic. Also, make sure, under "Service
status," start is selected. (Mine was somehow set on stopped. I clicked start and
-- voila! -- it worked.)

basically it was working one minute then just crashed.. halp plawcks

Your sound card is dead i had exact same error on my old computer. It was an on-board sound card and it died out of nowhere i just went and bought a cheap 5.1 channel sound card for like $20 that fixed it. It burned out dont try anything it wont help.

I had the same problem and I basically went to the internet to find my driver and reinstalled it. I doubt that your sound card fried/died.

Maybe, the best thing to do is open your case and see if the sound chip is burned or test it with CPU-Z

Thanks for the replies but I fixed it by updating the driver with DriverScanner2009
