Hey, I was wondering, since I'm a freshman, if there are any high school courses that I could take to learn C or C++? My district may be different from your guys' but I really would love to learn how to code and I'm trying many tutorials atm but they are quite "slow".
Also if there are any video or any kind of other online tutorials that you think could possibly help me it would be appreciated.
~Thanks in advance _________________

The course you are looking for is probably Computer Information Sciences. (Computers class). Though, the programming language varies from school to school. Last year I did OO Turing, a shitty language. This year, I am doing Java. My friend in another school is doing C++.
It all depends on the school. I suggest you talk to the head of computers at your school. _________________

What is your friend's class for C++? Also, what is your class for Java for future reference. _________________

Your best bet is taking classes at a junior college that offers it. Most highschools won't offer courses such as C/C++ and if they do, they won't be very advanced. Best thing to do is just take some time to yourself and pick up a book or read the many online sites such as:
http://www.cplusplus.com/doc/tutorial/
An excellent book I would recommend to beginners is:
C++ Primer Plus 5th Edition
by: Steven Prata
Excellent book for novices, it expects no previous programming knowledge, goes pretty in depth in the language and teaches some very good programming habits, something good to have when learning. You could probably find it on a torrent site I'd bet. |

Most highschools teach Java because there is an AP course based on it. Ask your school counselor about a possible C++ course or computer programming course; they are usually under the math subtitle. _________________

Best bet is to take online courses. Sorry I don't have a website. I'm going into some programming classes at highschool but I'm in Canada (Saskatchewan to be specific) No I don't live in Hell, Norway even though it IS a real place |
