| If you're going for gaming, go for the 8400 and overclock it to 3.5ghz. Quadcores suck for gaming coz games never optimally use the 4 cores.

hurr durr
quads can reach 3.5 easily too you know...
quads can be just as good as duals in games and even if they are just slightly behind, that's only games, for most other things you will use your pc for 4 cores > 2 cores.

Quads will undoubtedly be faster in games that are properly multi-threaded... which is a MUST if you want to have your game under the Games for Windows shit.
| Quote: | Requirement
The game implements features that take advantage of multiple CPU cores when present. A side-by-side comparison of the game running on a single-core machine versus a dual- or quad-core machine must demonstrate perceptible new features, additional compelling effects, and improved performance.
Rationale
The continuing growth in performance for CPUs has switched from clock rate improvements to the addition of computational cores. Both AMD and Intel roadmaps are based on scalable, multicore designs. All next-generation game platforms have multicore CPUs because of this fundamental shift in the evolution of processors. Single-threaded applications no longer will see significant gains from next-generation CPUs. Simple multithreading also will fail to scale as the number of CPU cores in common use grows to three or more. |

wtf? so core 2 duos are better cuz they use 2 cores and quad cores cant use all of the cores; they wouldn't fcking use one core only.
