|
|
Im hoping to get a new computer for my birthday, and I doubt my parents will spend over $1000 AUD.
So what's the best I can get for that?
(Post builds or premades, undecided weather to build my own)
I wanting to to me capable of lots of multitasking
(Eg: I often run 6 or more Tabs + MSN + Xchat + Photoshop)
And I'm wanting to to be capable of most gaming.
(Orange Box, Guildwars, CS:S/1.6 and such)
Thanks. _________________

Ow 1000AUD is not much in €.
550€, but you will get an computer that will run crysis on high with an average RES, and high fps.

I don't know any Australian comp part sites so i can't give any links, but i have a build for around $860 AUS (not including shipping).
Case: NZXT Apollo Black
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-MA770-DS3
CPU: AMD Phenom 9600
RAM: OCZ SLI-Ready Edition 2GB (2 x 1GB)
Graphics Card: HD4850
HDD: Seagate Barracuda 250GB (All i need but you may want more)
Optical Drive:Lite-On 20X DVD±R DVD Burner Black IDE (Not entirely sure what it's name would be so lets just go with that ;P)
PSU: Thermaltake Purepower 500w
Prices are probably a little different there but hope that gives you an idea of what to build ^^. If you want i can include the newegg links so you can see the detailed specs/pics. I suggest going with the q6600 if you want to OC, if not i think you should stick with phenom 9600.
Oh and that build can run crysis max settings AA+AF on a 1280x1024 res screen with about 15 fps , and the CPU is pretty powerful aswell if you want to do other things. |

one thing, It'll be safer with a 700w antec or corsair. and yes, you should get the q6600 and overclock that. _________________

Hey Trucido, since you live in Australia (like meeeeeeeeeeee), you may want to consider running the attached file in the archive. It squeezes what you may think was impossible into a tight budget. I guess you'll get away with 3.16GHz C2 Duo, 1GB RAM, 750GB SATA2 and a GeForce 9600 for $1003AUD. See the attachment to style your budget. |

Both, IMO.
For 700USD, you should probably be able to get a good rig. Let me see now... _________________

If someone puts up a reasonable argument on how the phenom is better, i might see it in a different light. _________________

Well, for the price if you're not going to OC the 9600 is. It's $70 less than Q6600 and only 20% less powerful (UnOCed).
I just compared all processors from $100-$180 on newegg and 9600 beat all except other phenoms costing $165 - $170, Phenom 9750, 9850 and 9950, 9850 rivals q6600 and 9950 actually outperforms q6600 by about 10% unOCed. |

I guess 9600s suck. They're just about history, I guess. |
