My friend wants to buy a motherboard with a 771 Socket(s). What would be the pros and cons for gaming on an LGA 771. My friend won't be running a server so I think the LGA 771 motherboard it a bit of overkill.
Well anyways, which would be better for gaming, 771 or 775?

Edit: It would help if you had an explaination

Socket 775 (Socket T)
-Support only 1 physical cpu
-Used for the everyday consumer and entry level workstation and servers
-Intel Cores 2s and Xeons based on the 775 socket
-Cheap and widely available

Socket 771 (Socket J)
-Supports up to 2 physical cpus
-Used for high-end workstations and servers
-Intel Xeons, Core 2 Extreme QX9775 (For Intel SkullTrial)
-Expensive and uses FB-DIMMS (Fully Buffered DIMMS): Great work mission critical work, but slow like molasses in gaming.
-Minimum OS required Windows XP Professional

The number of cores is not the same as the number of physical processors.

e.g. If a processor has 80 cores then it's still consider as 1 physical cpu.

He needs a 775 system.

771 systems are for workstations, and idiot gamers with too much money that don't understand multi-threading. There will be no benefit in a 771 system for a gamer, and they also use FB-DIMMS which are extremely bad for gaming.
