Code:

2 + 2x² = 6

Bring the 6 to the left side of the equation:
2x² - 6 + 2 = 0
2x² - 4 = 0

Factor a 2 out of each term:
(2)(x² - 2) = 0

For this equation to be true,
x² - 2 = 0
x² = 2
x = ± √2

Anyone who thinks it's 8 or is being told it's 8 is being trolled, hard.
