Go read up on superfetch and educate yourself. It's by design.
Lots of things are getting tweaks in Windows 7. Boot time especially, number of processes running, prefetch, etc.
Also, DirectX 11. The API this time around is apparently fully multi-threaded.
I imagine it will bring some very sizable performance gains. For the most part it should be fairly similar to Vista, so I doubt we'll be going through the driver pants shitting fiesta again (outside of DX11 support) |
Superfecth is only icing on the cake. Vista still hogs up the RAM of any computer. _________________

You are ignorant. Vista was not designed for computers with 1GB of RAM. It requires 2GB of RAM to run OK. 3GB to run smoothly. You always have to sacrifice performance for looks. If you're that concerned about RAM, go use DOS. It's 2x faster than Windows XP and 3x faster than Vista. Have fun with a black screen and typing commands in. |

funny thing is, they said Windows XP would run on 64mb RAM, but in honesty it only runs decent on 512mb RAM (8x minimum)
Vista claim their minimum is 512mb RAM but will run decent on 2Gb RAM (4x)
i don't see why people say Vista uses up so much resources...
and FYI every version up from now is bound to use more resources, so l2upgrade your pc or stop bitchin about it runs slow on my shit comp etc. _________________

So you'd rather have that 2-4GB of your RAM go to waste sitting there doing nothing, than actually being utilized for something? |

How the fuck does that make me ignorant? I have 4GB of RAM running on this computer and I know the requirements. What I said was that Vista hogs up the RAM which it fucking does. So take a chill pill I never said I have a computer running like 256mb of RAM or anything, I have enough in this computer and Vista STILL fucking uses up heaps.
What I meant was that even with Superfetch - computers running Vista will still experience lag. Superfetch isn't going to solve all your problems with a shortage of system resources. While it is nice to have, Vista is STILL using up loads of RAM. _________________

Also performance and graphics should come to a nice meet, vista takes up too much RAM. |
It's windows... It's microsoft..
Meaning: it will always have security holes. _________________

I have 4GB of ram on my Vista, 35% is reserved by the OS and the rest is for the user. So far I have not seen my ram reach 100% even if I do the most intensive task, my cpus will reach its max, but never my ram.
Maybe it's got to do with something that you installed that's causing the lag and memory hog. As for superfetch it puts ram to good use by allowing Vista to learn how you use your computer so the program you use the most will load faster than the one you use the least. _________________

This is BY DESIGN. The more ram you have, THE MORE IT WILL SUCK UP. The 64 bit version is even more aggressive in this regard than the 32 bit one. It will try and cache everything that's commonly used and keep it in memory, if something else needs it, it gets freed.
What do you not understand? |
