i guess formatting may help if something is running in the background and makes the computer run as if you're playing a game that uses a lot of resources. if that doesn't fix it then i'm not sure, perhaps a hardware problem like cpu.

Just formatted. She doesn't do anything demaning.
She's a woman. Browsing, music, IM. Thats it. Also, writing up documents for school but thats it.

I was working a friends laptop once that also has an over heating issue. I've ran cpu-burn in to create maximum cpu heat and saw his cpu was idling at 85C and overheated at 95C.
First I've cleaned the air filters and fan, but that didn't help because most of the dust are actually stuck between the heatsink and fan
, so I was force to that whole crap apart! After cleaning the heatsink, cleaned off/ reapply a new rice-size patch of thermal paste. I've ran cpu burn in again and this time the cpu idle temp was 40C and never pass 54C at full load.
I hope his laptop won't be as a PITA as the one I've worked with.

I REALLY don't feel like doing that. I told her to get a laptop cooler like the one sup3r mentioned.
If the problem persists, I'll give that a go.
