| Because their descendants were trying to build the Tower of Babylon or w/e. And that tower was supposed to be so high, that it would reach the heavens so they could conquer God. So God damned them, and gave them different languages/skin colours and making them unable to communicate. So they drifted apart and the tower was never completed.

Original man was black.
Races come from a different set of thoughts and culture people develop based on their origens and what plauges them.
So to say, all early civilizations began in different places. Mesopotamia, the Yellow River [forgot name] and along the Nile.
Their different demographics ran down and created different looking and differently built people as to suit their current environment.
If you live closer to the equator where you are exposed to heat and sun very often, you will be darker.
If you live to the North or South, you will be lighter as you are not exposed to sun as much and are exposed to colder weather, which leads you to have your skin covered by clothing.

Just a guess, they looked white in this bible picture book I read many years ago. Nonetheless, they were both the same race.
