if you alredy own the dvd and your not gonna sell it or lend it out for money its ok

Ok. Does it apply for ANY of my movies?
I read the law and it actually says that im allowed to burn a copy of a movie I own and give it to my friend. As long as it is for 'private use' only. Is that correct. ?
