Any hard drive will work with a 64-bit OS.

True. You need a 64-bit cpu to run a 64-bit os.

Check if your CPU has EM64T technology. If your CPU is after Pentium D, then it probably supports it.

its a q6600, it supports the 64-bit oses.

only thing that may cause problems in 32-bit are the harddisk controller interfaces. If you don't have a driver for the controller your harddisk it attached to, it may not work. But that is a mainboard/controller related problem, and has nothing to do with the harddisk. The harddisk just listens to what the controller tells it which is in it's own language independent of 32/64-bit
