|
|
Hey guys,
Since my processor is the only thing which still sucks in system, I want to buy a new one.
But I don't know anything about this new stuff with 64bit and so on..
Well, I'm about to buy this:
Click
It's a Mainboard + Processor and Ram.
Mainboard:
- Chipsatz Nvidia M1695
- Nvidia nForce3 250
- Sockel AM2
- Busclock 1000MHz
- Memory 4x DDRII 800/667/533
- max. 8GB RAM
- 3x PCI
Processor:
- AMD AM2 X2 6000+
- Pulsing: 2x 3,0 GHz
Here my question:
I've read that the processor is a 64bit processor, so I'm wondering what's the difference betwen a normal-32bit processor and a 64bit processor?
I know that you need a different OS (e.g. 64bit version of WinXP)...but what else?
Thanks in advance.

OK
with a 64BIT processor you don't need 64bit OS.
But for Ram over 3.5GB you need a 64 bit OS.
BTW in my opinion id go for a Intel Q6600 2.4GHZ Quad. _________________

I too recommend getting the Q6600, but you'll probably have to get a new motherboard and RAM.
64-bit processors (Intel 64/EM64T and AMD64/x86-x64) have full backwards compatibility with 32-bit operating systems. All modern processors have a 64-bit micro architecture with 32-bit support.
What are your current computer specifications? It'll help us decide what motherboard to use. _________________

| Dont go for an AMD, Intel is what is most price-worthy and performance-worthy. |
