The best gaming computer build is not going to be 3000 dollars. Off the top of my head I think I can do a 5000 or so. Look for maxishine on youtube, he always makes the best computers around I believe. Also it depends on what companies you like. Each website carries the most popular ones but there are a few choice companies that each website prefers. Also there are a few items that they disagree on prices for.

Ohh that makes it easier. If you want nice specs for a fast PC. I myself don't need to spend a few thousand of dollars. The most money I would sink if you aren't an extreme gamer is the 9800 GX2 which runs for around 500 dollars. Motherboard about 200 dollars. Power supply, hard drives, Optical drive, Ram, about 500-600 dollars. Mouse, monitor, keyboard, eh, w/e you want. So at the very most, less then 1500 dollars.

Again it depends on what you are doing. If all you are going to do is one game at one time or gaming and have a video on and then homework on another screen. The amount of core is basically the number of computers that the computer kinda has. If it's a quad core, that basically means 4 computers running at the same time. In detail, with 4 cores, each core would run at 25% when one core would run at 100% to run all the programs that you probably have on. If you have no worry about money, go for quad-core. If you are going to be multitasking like crazy, go for quad-core. But if you know you won't be running your computer for a long time, go for dual and save a bit of money.

http://www.tigerdirect.com/applications/SearchTools/item-details.asp?EdpNo=2643933&Sku=CP2-DUO-Q6600

This should be good if you don't have a price budget.

Or this if you want to save a bit of money.

I think both processors can handle what you just want.

Oh it also kind of depends on what motherboard you intend on getting cause the processor has to fit.

Tigerdirect is a little cheaper, but it has the WORST selection and a bad site layout...

It doesn't really matter about that. You just look for the socket type on the processor and match it with a mobo that has that compatibility. That's it. Then what you would look for is the motherboard that can hold what you want such as the PCI slots for a video card, what type of RAM it holds. how many sata ports it has... etc.

If you are going with a quad core and have a budget of 3000$ I'd go with the Intel 2 Core Quad Q9300 (Currently do not have a review of it, sorry)
Someone told me it had something new that made it better that the Q6600
And it has a higher number Very Happy

Q9450 would be better as it has a higher multi and more cache.
