If shit goes right this time, I'll get to build my machine.
Anyway, I'm looking at this card for a GPU. I hear it heats up fast. =\. Got any better reccomendations?
Also, should I go for Dual Core or Quad Core?
Looking at this mobo. What do you think? Yes? No? Reccomend me one, then.

If you want a better card that doesn't heat up as well. Try ATI. Their heatsinks are amazing. It depends on what you are going to do with the computer. Even for gaming, dual core is good enough. Quad is for machines that run for a long time and for a lot of programs.

4870 heats up worse than a 4850, I thinks. So much so that some computers fail to boot to begin to artifact within 5-10 minutes of basic use! Now this may be the end-user's fault.... but, shit....
Heat isn't going to be a problem now, anywho.
I'm getting this case. Many fans. Hopefully it isn't too loud or bright. I'll just break the leds. Shit'll get annoying.
Ajax - the 4850 is an ATI card. It heats up pretty fast.
I like to multi-task. I usually have many back-ground programs on at once. So i guess I'll stick with Quad if my budget permits. This seems to be the standard, if I am not mistaken.
While I'm here- which PSU should I get? I was looking at a OCZ PSU, which is what Dibilacho went for after his RoseWill failed. Any suggestions? Currently looking at this 700W PSU.

It shouldn't heat up much more than an HD4850, since it uses a dual-slot cooler. If you're still worried, you can manually change the fan speed. The artifacts most likely come from elsewhere.
The Q6600 is a good choice, although if you can put in some more money, the Q9450 looks nice too.
OCZ, Corsair, Antec, those are some good brands. You won't be needing a 700W PSU, a 600W PSU should suit you fine.

No, not really. The performance increase isn't much more than 10%, while costing 200% the price of the HD4850. If you want a better cooling solution, just add a third party cooler (but it'll probably void your warranty).

Don't get an SLi motherboard unless you are going to be using SLi. Your original motherboard choice was good (P5QL Pro P43 chipset).
The stock Intel cooler worked better than I expected. I'm getting mid 30's on an overclocked (to 3GHz) Q6600. At load, it never surpasses 60C, which is still under the TDP. If you really want to get a cooler for better overclocks, I would recommend you look at the Ultra 120, Tuniq Tower, and the Big Typhoon (the revised version). You can use the money you saved on the motherboard to get a better cooler.
Unless you're going to overclock to a 1600MHz FSB, then the DDR2-800 RAM won't be much more effective than similar DDR2-533 RAM.

I see.
Yeah I'll be clocking up the FSB so the frequencies between the two are close to equal.
Alright, I'll switch up the mobo and save some cash.
Switched it back, gained 45$.
Switched the fan to the tuniq tower like you said.

only if you dont change the fan settings.. set the fan at 45% and voila! no overheats.

Granted it's way overpowered for what you're doing, but it's a damn good PSU and will last you for quite a while. Plus the single rail setup might make your overclocks a bit more stable.
