Intel CPU prices effective as of 7/21

The deals on Intel Core 2 CPUs look nice, you can get a powerful Core 2 Quad for less than $200, while still outperforming AMD's Phenom 9950 at over $50 more.

If you're still looking at the dual core market, there's the major price drop on the E8500, so now the 11x multiplier look like something worth the step up from the E8400's 10x multiplier. The difference $20.

The E7200 (Wolfdale, 3MB L2 cache, 1066MHz FSB, 45nm process, 2.53GHz operating frequency), is actually the same price as the E4600 (Allendale, 2MB L2 cache, 800MHz FSB, 65nm process, 2.4GHz operating frequency), which is noticeably slower. I expected that Intel would have dropped those prices too, in order to keep it in line with the newer processors.

Also note, that the new prices won't be changed at sites like Newegg until sometime later, they have to get the new CPUs, and change the prices to fit their unique bulk pricing.

I wonder what AMD has in store.

Yes I've always been a huge fan of Intel, this is just cream on the filling on the cake for me now.

I've seen a couple of them on pc computer fairs.
Really old stuff but sometimes still fun to play with.

In less than a year, Intel will discontinue the Q6600 and Q6700, so that we'll have to buy the Yorkfield chips (as with other 65nm CPUs).
