8800GT 256MB. It has almost the exact same performance as the 512MB version, except it starts sucking once you add AA/AF and turn up the resolution.
Here's ATI's best offering with 256MB of RAM.
Why are you limited to 256MB of RAM? If it's a power supply issue, then most likely even a 512MB card (of the same class) should work.

Hmm thanks but i am in canada and would prefer something like memoryexpress or b-com.ca or computerrack.ca
I dont know the dell tech support told me the computer can only handle 256mb because the power supply doesnt have enough power to support it
Anyways is the 8500GT or 8600GT any good for crysis?
or this?

Try Tigerdirect.ca's selection.
I would say that any kind of customer support (even the ones that have "helpful" customer support like Lenovo and Apple) is worse than your own self support, as long as you have the knowledge. In this case, it's better to trust Cheetah (as quoted here), than to trust Dell. Anyways, using the specifications here, you really don't have room to upgrade to anything nice (8800GT for example) without getting a new PSU.

Check the PSU watt output. If it's 400W-500W, then you can probably get an 8800GT 512MB or a similar ATI card.
It depends on the resolution you're playing at.

You'll get 25-ish FPS at 1440x900 with an 8600GTS. At 1024x768, you'll get around 30-35 FPS. I think it'll be barely playable at 1440x900, as I'm running at the same resolution, but with an overclocked 8800GS at high settings + CFG hacks, and I produce an average of 27-30FPS. It's playable, although in graphically intense places (Core, Paradise Lost), it starts lagging.
It'll be barely playable, you'll want to overclock.

The extra power draw from some more memory is pretty insignificant.
Wattage should not be the main concern, rails are more important. It's a far better idea to get a good 500w than a shitty 650w or something like that.
With only 256mb, you're going to run into trouble with newer titles and higher texture detail, especially as the resolution increases. Many newer engines are starting to switch over to deferred renderers, further exasperating the need for memory since one of the pitfalls there is the large framebuffer.
