Yesterday, I opened an email containing a trojan (yay me), and I freaked out. I downloaded AVG 8.0 in attempt to remove it. But instead, it deleted everything from my desktop. So now when i turn on the copmputer, it will go to my desktop then just shut down instantly. I tried to find my SP2 disk to reformat, but I can't find it.
My question is, is it possible to reformat without a SP2 Disk, and if it isn't please show me how to make a bootable disk. I've tried Google, but it equires an i386 folder? which I don't have.

Woah woah wait.. You don't actually get the trojan unless you download the attachment, otherwise it's just a tracking cookie.

yeah just download an xp torrent
burn it on a cd
restart you computer
load it up from the cd before everything starts

Someone better show him how to start in safe mode.
If you don't know, After you turn on the computer, wait like 2 seconds, and tap F8, Don't tap to fast because sometimes a keyboard error will come up, after the advanced start up menu appears, go down to safe mode and it will start up, then go to system restore, (if you don't know how to do that ask) lol
There just in case.

you could always try opening up a command prompt and typing: "shutdown -a". that would abort a scheduled shutdown and might work.
and if you formatted your computer without an XP disk, you'd still need a disk to reinstall windows. are you sure none of your friends or family have an XP disk?
