who knows what happened but i got an unfixable BSOD from hacking maple and i tried all i could with the windows XP recovery console to system restore but no luck. these weird errors started coming (missing critical dlls like hal.dll and important sys files)
luckily, the recovery program offered to backup my entire OS to a separate folder on my computer. so i'm wondering if it's still possible to do some fixes from my new OS and salvage the old one. i really don't wanna have to reinstall everything. _________________

It's not a hard drive error. It's probably because you were stupid and ran something which deletes the hal.dll file. List the missing files and download them on another PC then transfer them.
