Im building a new computer and im not sure whether i want a dual core or a quad. im doing extreme gaming (crysis, bioshock, ut3, hl2) and i need it to run fast and relativley cool.
should i save 50 bucks or not?

What are the specific models? Like E8400 vs. Q6600.

If you want to future proof, the best way to go is with a quad. You might want to wait for newer processors to release, the prices might dip lower.

50 bucks + x >= y

DOES NOT WORK... how much do you have total and which processors are you checking out... Quad cores range from 200-1200 dollars...

I'd go with a Q6600 and OC to 3.0GHz...

Q6600 is sub $200 now, and is undoubtedly the best bang for the buck.

It's about overclocking. Overclocking will save you hundreds of dollars.
