Hey,

Well Im wondering what Core 2 duo means

like

Dual Core= 2 Cores
Quad Core= 4 Cores

Core 2 Duo= 3 Cores??!? !

Intel Core 2 Duo = 2 processing cores
Intel Core 2 Quad = 4 processing cores

Intel is the brand. Core 2 is the microarchitecture, derived from the original Intel Core. Duo is dual core. Quad is 2 dual core dies, making it a quad core.

Intel won't release a processor with 3 cores on the Intel Core 2 microarchitecture as, unlike AMD's CPU strategy (individual cores), Intel Core 2 CPUs have dies with 2 cores each, so Intel can make 2-core CPUs, 4-core CPUs, 6-core CPUs, etc. if they manage to fit all the dies in an LGA775 platform.

The number is just the brand. It's just the word after it that matters. Quad is 4, dual is 2.

dual core is just a short way of saying core 2 duo. same thing goes for quad core, core 2 quad.

Yes, Dual core is most likley to be a AMD.
AMD < Intel.

What? Dual Core is 2 cores (not referring to AMD or Intel). Unless you're referring the Intel Pentium Dual Core, then the Intel Core 2 Duo is faster because it has more L2 cache.

I know that, I thought he meant... Core2 dou and Regular Dual core, not a the same architecture.

right now, intel is superior woih processors. a core 2 duo would be better than most (if not all) similarly specced/priced cpu's.
amd is far ahead of intel in the gpu world though.(at least with the $200-500 range. not sure about the firegl.)
