|
|
Well first off, I ended up with a 9600 gt Geforce graphics card.
Long story to tell you why and how I got it, but I'm too scared to open it.
I'm checking out the system requirements, and I'm not sure if my PC can handle it. Its a Dell Dimension E510
My pc has some type of intel processor and 2 gbs of ram.
I need to know how to get information on my:
BUS TYPE
SYSTEM POWER SUPPLY
IF IT HAS A MIN OF 12V current rating of 26A
OR IF I HAVE A VGA or DVI-I compatable monitor.
+++ rep if you solve my problem.
thanks in advance

Based off the specs here...
1. Motherboard has a PCI-e slot
2. 305W PSU, which isn't enough (a 400-500W PSU should be enough)
3. Most power supplies should be able to do that
4. LCD monitors come in both VGA and DVI, while CRT monitors come in VGA only (for the most part)
So, no it won't. You'll most likely need a PSU upgrade as well.
Also, I noticed that the processor (Pentium 4) will heavily bottleneck your video card, if you haven't done any upgrading since you got your computer.

My PC looks a bit different than those specs.
My PC came with 2046mb of RAM
and also with a different graphics controller.
so all I need to run 9600 is to get a PSU upgrade?

To see if your PSU wattage just open your computer and look at the box on the top left corner, or it might be on the bottom left corner.

It wont work...
your wattage: 301w
the graphics card needs: 400w
Send it back or buy a new PSU

Best Guy or Best Buy? And if you dont know Best Buy is a rip off by name i can probably accurately guess your age xD
Also the 8800GT requires a 400watt powersupply also.

Also the 8800GT slightly performs higher than the 9600GT

Yes. Hopefully.
Just get a good quality & no cheapo Power Supply.
I'd recommend a Corsair HX-520 for you.
