I thought you were referring to client / server style things and so on. C/C++ isn't made to do web development in the sense of creating a website. I wouldn't say just because it can't do that, it makes them bad languages. I don't look at programming as having anything to do with web scripting.
That's why there are things like HTML, PHP, etc.
You can use extensions with PHP, however, to call functions inside a program or DLL created with C++ to obtain info and so on if you want to count that lol. |
And I'm not saying that they are bad languages. C/++ is good for a lot of things. There are just some things, in my opinion, that make C# better and more practical for a lot of things. Other things make C/++ more practical, like simply needing to include a pre-made header and having access to a large number of APIs. I simply prefer C# on a much more regular basis.

Alright I'm gona go ahead and learn Assembly for now then move up to C#/C++. I also need to take the time to find a freaking keygen for C#/C++ in that case.(I never pay for programs lol. Pirate Pride ) Basically all I'm doing is Robotics so I'll be good with this stuff.
EDIT: Almost forgot, what do I use to compile Assembly Code?

Trust me, once you go to the dark(light?) side, you never want to go back.

I'm assuming you're referring to C#.
In that case, then I started off on that side.
C# was my first programming language (excluding AA, if that's considered one). Just coming up on a year of experience with C# now.

Dude wtf. Microsoft Word takes 2-5 seconds to load. Usally it's a milisecond but if your computer is a slow piece of crap maybe 3 seconds at best. What was that meant to prove?
Quick question does anybody have a copy of C++ I could download or possibly tell me how to download it? I got it from the Borland site and got a bunch of files but no real application. wtf?

| Download Microsoft Visual Studio 2008. If you don't wanna pay, just get the 90 day trial and somehow crack it. Go to microsoft.com and the first page has a link to it.

Eh... No.
Unless you're walking about Word 95.
Word has to load a giant dictionary, along with all of the English language. It doesn't take "2-5" seconds.

Same here. I don't think word loads up the whole of the English language as soon as it is loaded.

| C# > all because it is so much quicker to program. The reason why I would always pick C# above anything else is because I can compile it without an obfuscator and then run it through a reflector to optimize the code I have OR (and here is the cool part) reflect it into C++ or ASM to do all the dirty painful work for me. On a single function in C# you can probably write it 3x faster if your a pro programmer, and infinite times faster if your a head banger who's brain pains can't wrap around unmanaged code. So, easy choice... spare your brain, use C#, and dive into unmanaged code as little as possible. In terms of speed, there really isn't much of a difference as long as your code is solid. The only real adv of C++/ASM over C# is you can painstakingly do anything.

You don't compile assembly, you assemble it with an assembler. And if you are really into robitcs, assembly might do good, however, if you were to make a game with assembly, it would not be very practical. (Go look at a disassembly)
@ jester, C# limits the possibilities of your program by putting more layers between your C# programming and the computer's language.
